Tim Gunn, co-host of Lifetime's "Project Runway, " hosted "Tim Gunn Wants You to Make it Work, " a fashion show and meet-and-greet that attracted an estimated 1, 000 people Saturday afternoon in the Neiman Marcus-Bloomingdale's courtyard at Fashion Island in Newport Beach.

Gunn, who is also the chief creative officer of Liz Claiborne Inc., provided commentary during the show with tips for spring 2011 style, and later answered questions from the audience.

Collections on the runway included the latest from Liz Claiborne, Juicy Couture, Kate Spade New york and Lucky Brand Jeans. Pieces from the presentation were available for purchase at Fashion Island stores after the event.

Ginny Hair of Huntington Beach said she found out about the event Saturday morning, and rushed to the shopping center.

"It's my favorite show, " Hair said as she waited in line to meet style expert Tim Gunn, "I think you can lean a lot. "

Gunn is currently working on his next book, "The Fashion Bible, " which will be an anthology of the history and lineage of different garments.

Audience members who spent at least $150 at any of the three brand stores on Saturday were invited to take a photograph with Tim Gunn and attend an after party which included champagne and desserts.
