The best buys at Stanley Market are Hong Kong and Chinese crafts. You'll find these in
the so-called antique shops. I say so-called as most of what they sell are not antiques but
reproductions, however you'll still find some lovely handicrafts at relatively inexpensive
prices. Look for small bamboo bird cages, Chinese ornaments, ornate boxes, paintings and
pottery.
Don't miss the clothing shops and stalls, with cheap prices on t shirts, skirts, blouses,
shorts, pants and shoes. You'll also find a few fresh flower stalls selling the most
beautifully colorful flowers, lots of toy stalls, hardware shops, watch and jewelry stalls,
linens and hand-embroidered items. I bought a couple of wonderful handbags, one was
leather and one a fabric bag, and both were only a little more expensive than I would
pay in Bangkok, where I live, so a good deal. They're beautiful quality too.
