dominated the recent runway trends in the world's fashion capitals

Starting this fall, there already is movement toward high-waisted, trouser-style pants, bow blouses and longer hemlines. The fabric moves away from the body instead of cinching it. Still, you can find skinny jeans and a short biker jacket if you want them.

That will be a harder task in the coming months, and fashion insiders say women are ready for the change.

With the looser silhouettes, white and tropical-hue colors, and a relaxed vibe, designers were showing both an optimistic attitude and a willingness to invest in design instead of gimmicks, they say.

“This comes after many seasons of maximalism and decoration, but no one wants to go back to ’90s minimalism,” says Stefano Tonchi, editor-in-chief of W magazine. “This is romantic minimalism.”

He adds: “When you look at fashion the last 20 years, there’s a lot of backward movement. You can’t find too many meanings in why you’re going back – last year was the ’80s – but, in the end, this season has a contemporary attitude to simplify and take away the ornamentalism and give freedom and romance to clothes.”

Catherine Moellering, executive vice president of the Tobe Report, a fashion retail trend consultancy, sees a little more purpose to the historical reference, though.

She said today’s global issues are similar to those faced in the 1970s.

But when it came to the clothes of that era, women were happy with their choices, she says, and the spring outfits that came down the runway have potential to appeal to a large audience.

In addition to the trousers, she expects shirtdresses, trenches, kaftans, printed scarves and floppy hats all to score well at retail.

And, Tonchi says, can’t you just imagine the racks of long skirts at H&M?

Shoppers, in fact, don’t have to wait for that to incorporate the trend into their existing wardrobe.

Color registers very quickly with consumers, Moellering says, so start wearing anything in tangerine, purple or orchid pink.

It doesn’t matter if the wearer is too young to remember Lauren Hutton, Ali McGraw or Bianca Jagger in their style heydays, she adds. There are plenty of teens and 20-somethings who know their fashion iconography.

Certainly, Yves Saint Laurent’s peasant collection was on the mind of many designers, which is familiar and relatable, and doesn’t have too strong of an urban voice, which can be a turnoff to some, Tonchi says. From an editorial perspective, the look is eye candy because it’s sexy and colorful, and lends itself to dramatic makeup and accessories, he says.

But strip away those things, and you’ll find that the ’70s influence is already on the street every day, says Bridget Foley, executive editor of Women’s Wear Daily. It’s the ethos of the modern wardrobe, she explains.

“When you see various retro things coming and going, the one with the greatest legs is the reference to the ’70s,” Foley says, noting that even the hippie looks so strongly associated with the 1960s actually went mainstream in the following decade.

(The ’70s working girl-disco style wasn’t totally original, borrowing from the 1920s and ’30s.)

“You take away the over-interpretation in hair and makeup, and those clothes make a lot of sense,” she says. “They are clean, wearable and pretty.”

Omega Launches Ladymatic in Beijing

Omega, the watch brand that astronaut Buzz Aldrin famously wore to the moon in 1969, unveiled the new Ladymatic collection today in Beijing, signaling its first serious effort to conquer the ladies' mechanical watch market.

Two years in the making, the Ladymatic borrows its name from an Omega model introduced in 1955 and its design sensibility from that era’s golden age of couture. The comparisons, however, end there. The modern version of the timepiece houses a robust Co-Axial caliber 8520/8521 within a round 34 mm case crafted from 18k rose gold, 18k yellow gold, or stainless steel, with or without diamonds. The movement features the innovative Co-Axial escapement designed in 1999 with the help of British watchmaking legend George Daniels.

“We felt there was a need for this,” Omega president Stephen Urquhart said. “The new watches are superb and they’ve been designed for women who have told us that they are as interested in the quality of our mechanical movements as they are in the style of the watches.”

Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman, a brand ambassador since 2004, is the face of the Ladymatic advertising campaign shot by photographer Peter Lindbergh. Presiding over the launch, Kidman said she believed “all women want a beautiful watch, but not just for show.”

Showing off the rose gold bracelet style adorning her slender wrist, she continued: “It’s not very heavy, but it’s got weight, and it’s not a replica of a man’s watch.”

Luxury goods and services categories that captured a greater

According to the findings of a new Unity Marketing study, a higher percentage of luxury consumers headed to stores in the third quarter, but they spent less, with luxury consumer spending dropping a modest 1.4 percent.

The results of the latest Luxury Tracking Study, a survey of 1,200-plus affluent consumer households, reveal that luxury consumer spending fell from $31,665 per household in the second quarter of 2010 to $31,225 in the third quarter. The study also shows that ultra-affluents (those in the top 2 percent of U.S. households with incomes over $250,000) cut back even more, reducing their third-quarter spending by 11 percent from the second to third quarter.

Luxury goods and services categories that captured a greater share of affluent shoppers in the third quarter included luxury clothing and apparel, wine and spirits, fine dining, entertainment and travel. According to Unity Marketing, the study data indicates that while luxury marketers for the five categories above were able to attract a greater share of customers in the third quarter as compared to the second, they were not able to convert them into higher-spending customers.

The study shows that the only luxury goods category posting quarter-to-quarter growth was personal electronics, a category that Unity Marketing expects more affluents to turn to in the fourth quarter for holiday gifts.

Hermes Family Didn't Sell 'Significant' Shares to LVMH

The founding family of Hermes International SCA didn’t sell a block of shares in the French maker of Birkin bags and silk scarves to LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA, according to an Hermes executive.

LVMH, the world’s largest luxury-goods maker, increased its stake in Paris-based Hermes to 17.1 percent, exercising options it already held, LVMH said today in a statement. LVMH said Oct. 23 it owned 14.2 percent of the maker of Birkin bags and derivative instruments for another 2.9 percent of Hermes, at a total cost of 1.45 billion euros ($2 billion). LVMH didn’t say how or from whom it bought the stake.

“While some family members make small trades from time to time, to our knowledge, no one from the family has sold a significant amount of shares,” Patrick Albaladejo, Hermes vice president of strategic development and image, said yesterday in a phone interview. “Hermes didn’t know about it.”

Hermes fell as much as 25.85 euros, or 13 percent, to 177 euros, the biggest intraday drop since at least 1993, and traded at 179.15 euros as of 4:02 p.m. in Paris trading. The stock rose 15 percent yesterday.

The silvertone bezel offsets the flat black dial–a Movado signature–which is adorned only by the Movado dot near 12 o’clock and the logo across the bottom edge.

Finally, a true show stopping wrist watch for women, Movado’s Gold Tone Circle Design Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch. This attractive number is notable firstly for its distinct interlocking circle bracelet with diamond accents adorning each link. The sheep grazing the newly laid pasture in London’s Savile Row

The sheep grazing the newly laid pasture in London’s Savile Row, home to gentlemanly tailoring, looked, well, sheepish.

But how could this flock — or the egg-yolk yellow sheep outside Selfridges, their wool color-branded with the store — know that they were there by royal appointment?

Prince Charles, whose once-ridiculed ecological ideas now look visionary, is behind a campaign to educate people about the joys and benefits of wool. Hence the event in London this month when shepherds were dressed up for the occasion in handmade-to-measure suits from the illustrious tailors Anderson & Sheppard and Gieves & Hawkes.

Like the campaigning “real food” supporters who want consumers to be able to trace the hens that laid their eggs, the cloth for those elegant suits came from wool from Exmoor Horn sheep, in the west of England, and was produced by the appropriately named Fox Brothers, historic wool manufacturers in Somerset.

This initiative from the Prince of Wales, to act as patron to a coalition of British industry groups, is not such woolly thinking. The world has changed since the Australian Wool Corp., 40 years ago, adopted the British slogan: “There is no substitute for wool.”

Today, an entire generation, grown up with padded nylon jackets and high-tech fabric sportswear, no longer has a closet filled with woolly sweaters and traditional winter coats. Ironically, the word “fleece,” used to describe ultralight, snugly zippered tops, often has nothing to do with sheep, but is made from 100 percent polyester — though fleeces made from recycled coffee grounds and soda bottles are also on offer.

“Wool Week,” with events involving 80 brands and 400 stores across Britain, was aimed at raising the profile of wool as part of a continuing five-year effort with a dedicated Web site: campaignforwool.org.

The fact that demand for wool is in decline was the spur to Prince Charles and caught the attention of wool suppliers in Australia and New Zealand.

The first day of Fashion in Detroit ended today

The first day of Fashion in Detroit ended today with classic but modern dresses from designer Peter Hidalgo.

From the cleanly constructed woolen shifts — some with elbow-length sleeves, others strapless with menswear-style pockets — to the silky evening gowns with thigh-high front slits, and backs that look like capes, the show was pure sophistication and the highlight of the day.

Lians Jadan, one of the event organizers, estimated attendance today was about 300 guests, and he said the onlookers were largely from the fashion industry. The location of the shows — the Soundboard at the Motor City Casino — holds about 1,100 people, he said, adding that he expected about 1,000 to show on Saturday.

Today’s round of shows started with a flirty collection by Adriana Pavon, winner of last year’s Fashion in Detroit local designer contest. From flowing silk dresses to sassy A-line minis, the garments aspire to be the sort of clothes you’d pack for a glam trip to the Riviera. They’re fun without evoking the feeling that you’ve just spent your paycheck shopping in the junior department.

The standout of Pavon’s collection? A strapless evening gown with an icy blue leaf pattern on a silver background.

Faux fur accessories

Every season we see lots of trends that look great on the runway but would look like costumes if we tried wearing them head-to-toe in real life. A great and less expensive solution to looking fashionable to is to find these trends in accessories. Rather than indulging in a "whole meal" of an outfit, accessories can add just the right amount of "spice and flavor" to plainer, more user-friendly clothes that may already be staple pieces in your closet.

Faux fur accessories
Texture differs from print in that it isn't a pattern but a particular fabric weave that has visual interest. This season fur (or faux) and shearling were all over the shows. But this clothing trend can get bulky and be expensive to wear. Adding faux fur boots to jeans is a great way to stay updated. You can even look for fur bootie warmers if you already own a great pair of plain boots. Try a crossover body bag with a slouchy sweater and a cargo pant for a weekend-on-the-go look. There's faux shearling which is infinitely less expensive than the real thing. This is a trend that mixes well with casual comfy pieces, like jeans and knitwear and more organic jewelry like, stones and wood.

Eye glasses fashion and safety

Whether a person is concerned with fashion or eye safety, sunglasses are a mandatory accessory. Sunglasses serve a functional purpose to protect the eyes and keep a person safe during a bright sunny day. Even more than that, sunglasses provide a fashion statement about the person that wears them. But no matter what drives a person’s sunglasses need, finding the right pair of sunglasses can be a challenge.

The global market for luxury goods is expected to return to pre-crisis levels in 2011 on the back of a 10 percent growth this year, helped by booming Asia and Chinese tourists shopping in Europe, a report said on Monday.

Rihanna Texts Fashion Warnings to Katy Perry and Lady Gaga

Pop star Rihanna makes sure her outfits never clash on the red carpet by using her cell phone and texting her friends Katy Perry and Lady Gaga beforehand to check what they are wearing.

The singer, who is known for her wacky fashion, is worried she will be pictured in the same outfit as her pals.

The 22-year-old told British newspaper the Daily Mirror: "My worst nightmare would be a clash on the red carpet, so we all text each other before to make sure.

"We're all kind of fearless with fashion so Katy and I speak all the time about what we're going to wear and Gaga."

She added: "One time we were going to the Met Ball, and Katy phoned me to check, we were like, 'Oh my god.'

"We were both going in this dress by Dolce and Gabbana with Marilyn Monroe's face all over it, she was like, 'You can't.'

'I've had my nails done in mink and it matches the dress,' I thought, seeing as she'd gone to all that effort, I'd let her wear it."

The Santa Monica Vintage Fashion Expo

The Victorian era may not have much in common with 1970s; yet when an 1835 Victorian corset is paired with a well-worn pair of Levi’s jeans, the unlikely age difference makes the combination for a perfect vintage match.

The advent and rising popularity of vintage clothing, vintage isn’t simply a cheaper alternative to the unused deal – it has transformed into its own genre and style of attire that is lovingly worn and recycled.

The Santa Monica Vintage Fashion Expo, a mecca of vintage shopping, will feature about 100 vendors devoted to decades in time-honored fashion trends this weekend.

The vintage expo will play host to a spectrum of fashion from as far back as 1835 in the Victorian era, to as recently as the 1990s.

The show has been in Santa Monica for the past 22 years and has seen as many as 3,000 people.
“The big question often pops up: ‘What is vintage?’” said John Maxwell, one of three founders of the Vintage Fashion Expo, and the only original founder still involved in the business.

“Vintage means so many different things to so many different people, and that’s part of the strength in the show. … Part of the reason for people being interested in vintage is the history, part of it is economics.”

Eyewear should provide 100% protection

All types of eyewear, including sunglasses and prescription spectacles, should provide 100% UV protection.

"If your child does need everyday corrective spectacles, Transitions adaptive lenses, which automatically adapt from clear indoors to dark outdoors when exposed to UV light, are the ideal option. Transitions adaptive lenses automatically provide 100 percent protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays. "Transitions adaptive lenses can also help boost a child's willingness to wear glasses," adds Botha.

Vision plays a key role in a child’s early functional, educational and social development and approximately 80% of learning in a child’s first 12 years comes from the eyes3. Changes in children’s vision can occur without parents noticing them.

This is why it is recommended children undergo regular eye exams as they grow and as their eyes continue to change and adapt.

Furthermore, conditions such as myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism, all of which can have an impact on a child's ability to learn and perform in the classroom, are easily detected by means of an eye exam.

at Stanle market you can buy a beautiful bag

The best buys at Stanley Market are Hong Kong and Chinese crafts. You'll find these in

the so-called antique shops. I say so-called as most of what they sell are not antiques but

reproductions, however you'll still find some lovely handicrafts at relatively inexpensive

prices. Look for small bamboo bird cages, Chinese ornaments, ornate boxes, paintings and

pottery.

Don't miss the clothing shops and stalls, with cheap prices on t shirts, skirts, blouses,

shorts, pants and shoes. You'll also find a few fresh flower stalls selling the most

beautifully colorful flowers, lots of toy stalls, hardware shops, watch and jewelry stalls,

linens and hand-embroidered items. I bought a couple of wonderful handbags, one was

leather and one a fabric bag, and both were only a little more expensive than I would

pay in Bangkok, where I live, so a good deal. They're beautiful quality too.

A snappy Gucci collection opened the Milan fashion week

Outlandish fashion falls flat in these days of crisis, with designers preferring a return to the "oldies but goodies," which don't have to pass the test of time.

Frida Giannini, the Roman designer who took over the reins at Gucci several years ago, dips into the horsey past of the Florentine house for inspiration, especially for her replica hermes handbags, but never succumbs to nostalgia.

The show presented Wednesday, the first day of the six-day preview showings, is colorful and fast-moving with a sophisticated elegance gleaned from a 1970's feel and a Mediterranean allure.

High-waisted tulip skirts share the runway with harem pants. Softly tailored men's jackets compete with fitted riding jackets and bomber jackets. Bright shades of orange, purple and green contrast with safari beige and basic black.

Ferretti's option is quite contemporary. The Italian designer represents that portion of modern women who prefer a romantic rather than edgy approach to fashion.

The alluring styles can be either short or long, but never sexy. They caress rather than grab the body, and their transparency is more a hint than a revelation.

How would you love to wear a scarf that is fashionable

How would you love to wear a scarf that is fashionable and for a cause? Have you heard about the scarf that campaigns for peace?

Let's admit it, we need peace for this world now more than ever. We have wars, catastrophes and violence anywhere and everywhere. We hope for its end. We hope for justice. But sometimes, we simply feel helpless. How do help stop the war? How do we contribute? There's good news. We can actually start to do what we had always been longing for, to help spread the peace on this very planet. And the best news is that we can do our share in a very fashionable way possible.

It's simple. Give away and replica hermesspread peace by wearing a peace treaty scarf.

the best-selling design of sunglasses in history

The Ray Ban Wayfarer model has been on the market since the '50s but is in the 80s that has reached the boom becoming a cult especially for men. In recent years Ray Ban introduced a new take on the original Wayfarer as they feature a two-tone style. Among the various color combos are Sand/Blue, Black/Lime, Black/Orange, Black/Yellow, Purple/Red, and even some printed styles.

The collection includes many varieties of colors in bright colors and shiny frame and includes versions with single color, two colors contrasting with slow and spotted in different shades and nuances.

Wayfarers enjoyed early popularity in the 1950s and replica hermes 1960s, especially after they were worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. Though the sunglasses had faded from the limelight by the 1970s, a lucrative 1982 product placement deal brought Wayfarers to their height of popularity. Wayfarers are sometimes cited as the best-selling design of sunglasses in history.

law enforcement officials encourage women to choose smaller wallets

When it comes to wallets and purses, size does matter. At least it does for those trying to protect their identities, credit cards and bank accounts from criminals. Therefore, local bank executives and law enforcement officers are recommending women make the switch to a man’s wallet, as a trend in snatching women’s wallets from purses hit Naples this past month. Usually, the victim does not realize the wallet is missing from her purse until she returns home. The top three mistakes women make with their purses, according to Collier County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Ray Erickson, are leaving purses behind in a car, leaving purses in a shopping cart, or leaving a purse open and not staying near it. “People should ask themselves, how many credit cards do I have in my replica hermes, even if it is a man’s wallet. They should know what is in their wallet in order to report it missing,” said Erickson during a break from a seminar in landscaping business crime prevention at the Golden Gate Community Center.

Valentino created multiple shoulder bags

Valentino created multiple shoulder bags for his Paris Fashion Week runway which were shown in small and medium sizes. The shoulder bags had clean, rectangular lines and were made from shiny, smooth, structured leather. Valentino used a chain strap on the handbags that is constructed much like the chain on Chanel's 2.55 where it can be worn as a single strap or double strap. As a single strap, Valentino's shoulder bags drop to the middle of the hip bone. Worn as a double strap, Valentino's shoulder bags will hit at the bottom of the rib cage. Valentino used small studded details on his medium sized shoulder bags and a double closure detail on his small shoulder bags. The shoulder bags that Valentino created were slightly dressy and could pass for the office or daytime special event.

There was also a small, soft leather clutch on Valentino's runway during cheap hermes handbagsParis Fashion Week which featured small studs. The clutch was perfect for daytime looks and fit right into the current small, daytime clutch trend Fashionistas have seen coming off of the New York, Milan, London and Paris runways.

Distinguish Fake Hermes and Real One

There is no doubt that ladies love fashion. Almost every girl dreams of possessing a LV, Gucci, Hermes, Fendi. In the present society, fake products are hither and thither. As customers, maybe you are worried about being cheated. Don’t worry, here are some tips to distinguish a fake one and a real one.

To search for a “H” in the detail

On any handle of a Hermes canvas bag, you can see a “H” logo clearly. The logo “H” is made in the procedure of cotton weaving rather than embroid after finishing weaving cotton, therefore, it’s more expensive. A fake one is usually made roughly. Besides, on the root of the handle and the zip, you can also find a “H” clearly. However, before 1965, there is no “H” logo in Hermes. As a result, this “H” logo is not the most important factor in distinguishing a real Hermes.

To see the grains, As usual, an ordinary bag is made in the way of stockinet weaving. But Hermes prefers another way. When you approach to a Hermes bag, you can find that it is made by two different sides of grains. A fake one will never reach such a height in bag making. With such special grains, the price is surely higher than other bags.

Be careful of the numbers,While making a Hermes bag, craftsman will always follow the tradition —make the best one. Each bag is made by a craftsman. He has to put a number on the bag. In one way, it’s convenient for customers to get the bag repaired. In another, it shows us how proud the craftsman feels about his work. They believe that they create a excellent thing. Each Hermes gets a unique number to show its dignity to people all over the world. Hermes watch is so glorious. If you want a real Hermes, please follow the tips. I believe that you will get your dream bag certainly.Of course, for it’s high price, more and more people chosee high quality replica watches for saving money. It’s cheap but high quality in watchlux.com.
